Being the bibliophile that I am, I am on Goodreads obsessively. I was notified yesterday that Jojo Moyes and Elin Hilderbrand would be doing a Q & A on Goodreads, so I nervously ask Jojo:
"Hi Jojo, I am a librarian and I read Me Before You for the first time this week for my book group. (http://newburghvirtualbookclub.weebly...) I kinda fell in love as dorky librarian's does with books. As I was reading I wondered what the hardest part about writing this novel was. I thought, if I were writing, it might be the Will and Louisa dynamic. Or maybe it was creating such a believable character in Will with his disability? So what was the most challenging part of Me Before You? Thanks so much."
She replied:
"Hi Heather. Thank you for your kind comments. I don't know if this is going to sound odd, given the subject matter, but it was actually the easiest book of my 11 that I've ever written. I think it was because - unusually - I had a really clear picture before I started of who Will and Lou were, which meant that really all I had to do was work out the plot and throw them together and see how they reacted to it, and each other. That makes it sound easy, but I can tell you it doesn't often work out that way."
She was really nice and I loved her answer. It did surprise me, but in a good way!
